'Amanat' seorang Datuk...

well..it's not anyone's Grandfather. it's Datuk Hjh Ilani. one person who is very responsible in making sure that the development of English Language will be at the same level with the development of other subjects in school. 2 years ago, when SAL Room were launched, my 2 seniors [teh & wenna] were the practicum teacher in SMK Tanjong Mas. and now, the three of us performed the so-called same duty that the two of them performed earlier. while waiting for Datuk to leave the SAL room, suddenly she approached...

Datuk: Well...Why do you think the numbers of male teachers are lacking?

me: Datuk, in my opinion it is not about the numbers of male teachers in general. but number of male english teachers in specific. it's simply because of how the surroundings accept them as English speakers. For instance, if we speak in English...here in Kelantan, we might end up hearing people say, "bau budu..." as well as other 'annoying' yet cynical words and that of course can make us feel not motivated to become an English speaking person.

Datuk: so, if you have any suggestion, i hope you will contact the Ministry of Education and tell them such problem. you can surf Tan Sri Muhiyyidin's Blog, or our PM's blog. at least, write something...or perhaps any suggestion to increase the number of English teacher...particularly, male English teacher.

me: ok, Datuk. InsyaAllah..i will remember that. but then, we still have a dozen of male teachers together with me in my cohort.

Datuk: really?

me: yes.
